MMF COMMUNICATIONS UNIT

Education

  • Restored Hope to marginalised communities in Northern Nigeria by providing Scholarships to 108 children.
  • Quarterly visits to all scholars across Northern Nigeria, ensuring their progress and witnessing the impact of educational support.
  • Success stories of scholarship beneficiaries like Hamman Hassan,  Abdullahi Muhammad and their transformative journeys
  • Success stories of the Chibok Girls in the diaspora and their transformative journeys in partnership with the Victim Support Fund.
  • The distribution of Textbooks to Scholars at Federal Government College, Maiduguri.
  • The graduation ceremony of 28 beneficiaries from diverse institutions, spanning universities, secondary schools, and primary schools, was a significant event celebrating academic excellence, personal development, and potential realisation.
  • Visited and evaluated the academic and physical well-being of the sponsored orphaned children at the Future Prowess School.
  • Launched a new scholarship programme for African girls in STEM, in collaboration with the African Science Academy and facilitated by the African Gifted Foundation.
  • In partnership with Cherie Blair’s Mentoring Women in Business Programme, eight exceptional MMF-nominated candidates joined the May and November 2024 cohorts, with six candidates for May and two for November. These women are embarking on a mentorship journey designed to empower and elevate their businesses.
  • Eight businesses from the November 2023 cohort successfully completed the Women in Business Mentoring Program in November 2024. This transformative year equipped the entrepreneurs with essential tools and insights to drive growth and sustainability in their ventures.
  • A Cherie Blair flagship survey, supported by MMF, gathered critical insights from women entrepreneurs. These findings are instrumental in advocating for meaningful policy changes to address the socioeconomic challenges faced by women in business across Nigeria.
  • MMF commemorated the 2024 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women with impactful initiatives, reaffirming its commitment to advocating for women’s rights and tackling gender-based violence.

Humanitarian Aid

  • The 10th anniversary of the Chibok Girls abduction was commemorated with the launch of a comprehensive report, highlighting the ongoing impact and reinforcing the call for justice and advocacy efforts.
  • A courtesy and surveillance visit to the Makoko community offered deeper insights into their needs and opportunities, paving the way for more impactful humanitarian support initiatives.
  • An in-depth exploration of the realities faced by individuals displaced by terrorism was undertaken during a visit to the Kuchingoro IDP camp, further solidifying the commitment to addressing displacement crises.
  • Through the Humanitarian 4Rs initiative, welfare support was provided to the Treasures of Love orphanage home, reflecting a steadfast dedication to supporting and nurturing vulnerable children.
  • Hope and relief were extended to victims of the Maiduguri flooding incident, offering solace and underscoring the Foundation’s unwavering dedication to disaster response and recovery efforts.

MMF’s 2024 National and International Interns

In 2024, MMF had the privilege of hosting three exceptional interns whose contributions significantly advanced our mission.

  • Disha Ganjegunte (Harvard CID) developed a comprehensive document to support ongoing and future initiatives and designed research-based frameworks for effectiveness and impact assessment.
  • Ayesha Islam (Harvard CID) strengthened our educational efforts by reviewing the Education Scholarship Programme for Chibok as part of the Education Impact Project.
  • Chizelum Okolue (Babcock University) enhanced our mentorship initiatives by gathering testimonials for the Cherie Blair Mentorship Programme for Women
