Educate a Child Campaign

Project: Educational Support for Chibok Girls. Theme: Empowering Chibok Girls Through Education Donate Overview Gallery Overview Our mission at the Murtala Muhammed Foundation is to create lasting positive change in the lives of individuals affected by adversity. One of our flagship initiatives, the “Educational Support for Chibok Girls” project, embodies our commitment to this mission. Providing Hope through Education In the wake of the Boko Haram insurgency that struck Northeast Nigeria, the Chibok community faced unimaginable challenges, including the abduction of their girls. Our initiative, which began in 2018, seeks to provide safe and high-quality education to these brave young girls and their relatives, who have endured immense hardships. Making an Impact Since its inception, this initiative has made a significant impact: Direct Beneficiaries: We have sponsored a total of four Chibok girls as direct beneficiaries, offering them educational opportunities outside the country that serve as a beacon of hope for their future. Indirect Beneficiaries: Through the support of generous individuals, we have reached out to over 30 additional individuals, extending the ripple effect of positive change beyond our direct beneficiaries to their families and the community at large. Joining Hands for a Better Future We believe that education is a powerful tool for transformation, and together, we are creating a brighter future for these resilient girls and their community. With your continued support, we can expand our reach and make an even greater impact. Gallery Donate Now Your support matters. Help us expand our impact by donating now. Educate Me- I will Change The World

Project: EducateMe – I will Change The World Overview Gallery Overview Imagine a future where every child, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to learn and grow. This is the vision of the Murtala Muhammed Foundation’s EducateMe campaign, which aims to empower 1,000 out-of-school children affected by disabilities, crises and terrorism and in need of humanitarian assistance in 2024. Our approach embodies the Starfish Principle, focused on making a difference – one child at a time. “Education can break down barriers, challenge prejudice, and build bridges between communities.”Dr Aisha Muhammed Oyebode Why EducateMe?Children caught in the crossfire of violence often face a stolen childhood. They miss out on education, which is the foundation for a brighter future. This impacts individual lives and hinders entire communities from healing and rebuilding. EducateMe tackles this challenge head-on, offering hope and opportunity where it’s needed most. How We Do It:Building Bridges, Not Walls: Mobile Learning Spaces: We bring education directly to communities, creating safe and accessible havens for learning. These spaces become anchors of hope, equipped with essential materials, trained teachers, and vital psychosocial support. Community-Rooted Programmes: We harness local resources and cultural strengths. Imagine learning through storytelling, traditional methods, and even vocational training – all tailored to the community’s unique needs. Unlocking Potential: We understand the power of incentives. Scholarships, school supplies, and vocational training opportunities remove barriers and encourage families to prioritise education. Healing Hearts and Minds through Pastoral Care: Trauma can be a heavy burden. We provide expert counselling, group therapy, and stress management techniques to help children and families heal and thrive. Smoothing Transitions: Returning to formal schooling can be daunting. We offer academic support, peer mentorship, and social-emotional counselling to ensure a smooth and successful reintegration. Where We Start:Our initial focus will be Nigeria’s marginalised communities and populations, scarred by years of neglect and conflict. The EducateMe programme is designed to adapt and scale, reaching out to other regions in Nigeria and beyond, wherever children face similar challenges. Challenges We Face: Safety Concerns: Terrorist attacks often target schools, creating a climate of fear. Trauma’s Impact: Violence and displacement leave deep emotional scars, affecting learning and social development. Poverty’s Grip: Many families struggle to meet basic needs, making education a distant dream. Teacher Shortages: Conflict zones often need more qualified teachers, hindering quality education. Cultural Barriers: Some communities may have beliefs that impede access to education. Together, We Can Overcome:These challenges are formidable but not insurmountable. With your support, we can build safe learning spaces, empower communities, heal hearts and minds, and unlock the potential of every child.Join us in making EducateMe a reality. Donate, volunteer, or simply spread the word. Together, we can rewrite the narrative and give children the gift of education, hope, and a brighter future. Gallery Donate Now Your support matters.
