In an unsettled society where individuals and their families live in fear of not surviving the next hurdles life throws at them, MMF restores hope, peace, and human dignity back into the lives of people who were victims of man-made or natural disasters. Nigeria has experienced and is still experiencing a magnitude of disasters ranging from terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, ethnic and religious crises, herds men attacks, criminalities, oil spills, pipeline vandalism, to cholera. These disasters have claimed the lives of many people, ruined communities and destroyed habitats. The developmental and humanitarian challenges caused by these disasters require deliberate actions, strong commitments and sustained responses to prevent underlying consequences through an effective disaster management plan. MMF disaster relief service is built on 4 frameworks;
The objective of the programme is to provide short and long-term support to families and communities affected by disaster; and strengthen policies and institutional capacity of disaster management framework in the Nigerian community. In cases of emergency, relief support is provided through the distribution of food and non-food items (clothes and other essential items needed for survival). By extension, scholarship assistance is also awarded to affected families and communities. MMF collaborates with individuals and organisations to improve the learning environment through the Safe School initiative. Through this initiative, students are enrolled in safer schools outside their immediate community.
